Went for a walk around the neighbourhood, and all of a sudden....Citroen GS. I want one now.

Also the second cleanest 2nd gen 4Runner I’ve ever seen. I also want it.

It is quirky but for me it’s all about the pre ugly plastic dash Citroen DS, it’s my dream sedan. I could probably buy one but the maintenance and everything is probably crazy over time. I have to keep the diesel merc for now.

Oh I’m with you on the early DS want. I'd just never seen one of these in person and it looks so foreign amongst the boring modern cars, it made me want it

What confuses me is on Jay Leno’s garage he shows his DS and it’s the plastic dash!! Jay can have a 69 etc..! I don’t get it. Why have this:

I’d take the GS over the 4runner any day. Hell, I’d take the GS over anything besides an Ami, 2cv, DS, HY, 7/11/15 cv (traction avant), or split window VW Bus.

I have very poor taste.

That GS is gorgeous!

Also, I’m with you as Spridget! The 2CV, Traction and HY are some of my favorite cars (or the Ami, as it’s 2CV-related! The DS is just a given :P)

If I remember correctly, Leno has a Pallas, which is a desirable high trim ‘70's model with an upgraded interior and the turning headlights. These are going in the 40 to 50k region now, so I’m betting Leno bought the cheapest one in good condition, or he could just care more about having the rest of the interior and headlights in Pallas trim instead of having the old dash.

You can get those easily with the old dash, they made them like that. The car is the same, they just downgraded the interior later. Same exact headlights, I am pretty sure all the trim levels had the turning headlights, the outer set turned while the inner set is fixed. Jay mentioned that he put an A/C ready dash in the car, I don’t see why he couldn’t just put vents below like Classic Air does, his shop can do anything.

Maybe he just likes that dash better? I agree with you, but taste is just a matter of opinion.

Leno has good taste from what I’ve seen, I can’t accept that someone prefers the plastic DS dash, I simply cannot!
